PRINCIPALS OF TEACHING AND LEARNING 

The Board of Education recognizes that effective teaching and learning are grounded in academic freedom, intellectual inquiry, and mutual respect. The Board supports an educational environment in which students are encouraged to think critically, ask questions, evaluate evidence, and engage in respectful discussion of ideas consistent with the district's curriculum, applicable law, and Board policy. 

The Board affirms that the purpose of instruction is to educate students through objective, age-appropriate, and standards-based teaching that promotes knowledge, understanding, and independent thinking, rather than to promote or discourage particular political, religious, or ideological viewpoints.
